just for fun and for education purposes, but also in case someone want to reproduce it. I took it apart, measured all the single parts and made 3 D drawings out of it. I changed several parts, measurements and specifications which in my opinion had a design weakness or could be done better, easier and more reliable. The pictures show the assembly drawings and different kind of renders. Behind all parts are true measurements, tool paths for NC and CNC, solid drawings, specifications and even costs. I used this example in classes about engineering to show the comparison of different design intents and thought processes. How to redesigned and if necessary reproduced today for just around 10 % of the original price…..

….by using different materials, applying stress tests and different tollerances, specifications and modification of single parts production methods and improved ways of assembling. Not that just the price could be reduced to 10% of the original,… the weight and assembly time would be reduced too. All by meeting the necessary security and quality relevant standards of Iso and CEN, including DIN standard footprint mounting positions of modern locks.
